HOW TO GET DEWA METER / DEWA APPROVAL?

So you have rented or bought a new commercial unit and you need Electricity Supply. But there is no DEWA meter. As a consumer, you cannot get a DEWA meter by yourself. To get a DEWA meter, you need to hire DEWA Approved Electrical Contractors.

The Process:

Getting DEWA meters for a new unit is usually called a “Fit Out” application. The complete process to get DEWA meter can take between 3 weeks to couple of months depending upon the type of project.
The associated costs also depend on the project, whether you need additional load or the existing load is enough and if there is merging of units. You need to pay the security deposit and new connection cost.

Documents Required:

Landlord NOC (prescribed format) (Compulsory)
Tenancy Contract / Title Deed (Compulsory)
Trade License Copy OR the person Emirates ID whose name is mentioned in the Title Deed or Tenancy Contract (Compulsory)
Previous DEWA approved load schedule for the entire premises (Highly Recommended)
Details of how you are going to use the electricity. For example, you need only lights and sockets OR you will be installing equipment’s and machinery. Load Details (Compulsory)

Then we start working on making setting layouts, load schedules, circuit diagrams, and single-line diagrams to submit to DEWA for approval.
DEWA will review the design and approve OR reject the application. If rejected, we will rectify the comments and apply again for approval. If approved, we need to start executing the electrical work as per the approved design.

Once the electrical work is completed, we will apply for inspection. DEWA inspection engineer will come to inspect the electrical work and make sure all the work is done as per DEWA rules and regulations. If inspection is failed, then DEWA inspection engineer will give comments to rectify. After we rectify the comments, we apply again for inspection. If inspection is passed, then DEWA meter will be released.
